~ Karen Tolman
Sights I see delight me.
They tempt my camera lens.
Close to home, I need not stray,
To fill my thirsty pen.
Sounds abound around me.
I happily hear birdsong.
Bullfrogs chorus in the night.
Peepers peep about the pond.
Smells compel me to breathe in
The air swelled with perfume.
Outside my door, the roses grow,
And lilacs are in bloom.
Taste buds are enticing me
With fruit from apple trees.
Blueberry pies are sweetened
With nectar from honeybees.
Touch gently surrounds me.
Wind blows through my hair.
The pond calmly caresses me
Within its many tears.
Close to home, I need not stray,
To fill my pen today.
Thank you for this memory. Karen was so modest in her creativity. I miss her so much!
Thank you for sharing one of Karen’s lovely poems. It reminds us that simple treasures lay just outside the door, enough to fill both pen and soul.
