The Nelson Congregational Church received an unexpected opportunity to display the quilts made by nine UCC churches following the murder of George Floyd on May
25, 2020.

The Sacred Ally Quilt Project documents Mr. Floyd’s dying words. Rev. Chris Owen, the church’s former interim pastor, is one of the creators of the project.
The quilts are traveling to schools and churches throughout New England to inspire conversations about racial justice.
The quilts will be in town for only a few days. They are set up in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Masks are required; extra masks are available at the entrances to the church. The hall is open on these dates:
Wed., Feb. 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sat., Feb. 12, noon to 3 p.m.
Sun., Feb. 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sacred Ally is one of the ministries that received funding this year from the Garrett- Larsen Social Justice Fund. For more information on the Sacred Ally Quilt Project, you can view this short trailer for a documentary, Stitch Breathe Speak, currently in production.
