Local and Seasonal Inspirations from Beverly Largier

My food philosophy is simple:  there is no better food pairing than with good company.

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where my passion for food since a young child began with following my grandmother in her kitchen. My father, a draughtsman, used to design our birthday cakes. It was incredible to grow up watching him skillfully craft our cakes. I wanted to be just like that. In my adult life I’ve lived in three continents. While in London I did the Cordon Bleu program at Tante Marie Culinary Academy,  which at the time was under the ownership of Gordon Ramsay.  More recently I finished Cake Flix Masters Programme in London.

Though my primary food influence is from my home country of South Africa, I have traveled and eaten (dined) all over the world and love to experiment with different origins and flavors. My favorite dishes and bakes are those that bring out the best in simple flavor combinations.

I love the use of all things local where possible and am always interested in finding the new and unusual in the baking and cooking world.

When I am not in the kitchen you will find me walking, kayaking, gardening, and spending time with my family.
