Nelson In Common Update December 1, 2021

Above: Sarah Wilson and nature collaborated to get this fabulous moon photo a couple of weeks ago.

This week we’ve stepped away (just temporarily) from our updates and regular format to allow for a different kind of experience.

Ethan McBrien presents a lovely reading of Mary Oliver’s poem “First Snow.”

And for a visual experience, we’ve put together a photo slide show of many of the images that have been posted on this website since we started in early April,  a sort of year-in-review. We love the images of Nelson (or in some cases from Nelson and looking to distant landmarks).  Photos are a constant feature of this website: look at this week’s amazing moon shot (above) from Sarah Wilson, and this picture (below) of Granite Lake in early-winter mode. Both of these photos are also included in the slide show.

You can also dig back into two regular monthly columns that are always rich with photos:

Linda Singer’s Musings of a Nelson Gardener

Val Van Meier’s Nelson Agricultural Commission articles

And this is a reminder that we welcome your poems, your recitations, your artwork, photographs, music, and stories.

Other contributing photographers include Judi Lang, Brenna Kucinski, Wendy Wollaeger, Kathy Schillemat, Spencer Peery, Susan Peery.

Go to the slide show – the images of 2021.

The images will advance about every 5 seconds, or you can nudge them along.
