The results from a recent Nelson Old Home Day survey are in, and the resounding takeaway is that Nelsonites love music, art, a good book, and a great meal! The survey listed all past and present events that have traditionally been offered during Old Home Week and Old Home Day. Survey participants could indicate on a scale of one to five how they felt about each event, with one meaning “will not participate” and five meaning “will definitely participate.” Events are listed below in “most popular” order (in other words, those receiving a four or five), descending to least popular.

As with all surveys, the data can be skewed depending on who responded, their age and interests. In addition, the total number of respondents was less than 100, which is the standard benchmark for a 10% margin of error.  This means the results are interesting and can be used in planning, but do not fully represent the entire population of Nelson. The Old Home Day committee will use this data as a piece of their overall planning for the resumption of this year’s Old Home Day activities.
