The 2021 Maple Syrup Season

The 2021 Maple Syrup Season

Mike Tarr set out taps on Feb. 20, and after a slow start, began boiling on March 11.

He and others in town had one really good day recently, when he got more than 2,000 gallons of sap and made 50 gallons of syrup.

He said the weather has had a lot of extremes, which hurts the run. He said, "When you are a sap farmer, the weather is never right. Too hot, too cold, too windy, whatever."

He said next week might be the end of the run, but it might be a good week, depending on the weather. "A foot of sticky snow right now would help."
